Zayne Ang, Fei Yue EIPIC (Jurong East) student
Zayne Ang began his journey with Fei Yue Early Intervention Programme for Infants & Children (Jurong East) in 2017, shortly after celebrating his first birthday. He was referred to our centre due to a medical condition known as Agenesis of Corpus Callosum, which affects the development of his brain and resulted in global developmental delay and hearing impairment.
Upon joining us, Zayne faced significant challenges in basic motor skills such as sitting without support and chewing food before swallowing. The dedicated EIPIC team, alongside his parents, embarked on a collaborative effort to support Zayne’s development. Through structured interventions and therapies, Zayne has made remarkable progress over the years.
One of Zayne’s major milestones was learning to walk independently with the aid of a Kaye walker. This achievement has empowered him to navigate his surroundings with supervision, marking a significant step towards greater mobility and independence. Additionally, he has mastered the skill of chewing food properly and now feeds himself independently during mealtimes.
Communication has also been a focal point of Zayne’s growth journey. With the use of an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device, Zayne can now express his needs, desires, and thoughts effectively. He has learned to interact with others by answering questions and engaging in conversations, showcasing his eagerness to connect with the world around him. Zayne’s infectious enthusiasm brightens every day at school, where he greets everyone with a radiant smile, whether through waving or using his AAC device.
As Zayne continues to thrive and achieve new milestones, we are filled with hope and pride for his future. His journey exemplifies the transformative impact of early intervention and dedicated support from educators, therapists, and his loving family. We remain committed to nurturing Zayne’s potential and providing him with the tools and encouragement he needs to flourish.
Looking ahead, we envision Zayne continuing to succeed in all his endeavours, continuing to warm hearts with his positivity and resilience. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the boundless possibilities that come with unwavering support and belief in one’s abilities.
